What is a precinct?
The voting precinct is the smallest political unit in the country. It often consists of just your surrounding neighborhood and is comprised of only 1,100 registered voters or so. Michigan contains 83 counties, 274 cities, 1,242 townships, 261 villages, and over 5,000 voting precincts.

What is a Precinct Delegate?
Precinct Delegates are the most localized elected officials of their political party. They regularly attend local meetings and serve as local grassroots representatives within their communities. Precinct Delegates also play a vital role in their party's functions, often exercising their powers to nominate candidates, elect leadership, and adopt a platform.

The Grosse Pointe Democratic Club highly encourages its members to become Democratic Precinct Delegates. To do so, you must file an Affidavit of Identity with the State of Michigan to get on the ballot (found here).
